Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a type of treatment where small needles are inserted into the skin, at specific key points across the body. The treatment requires specialist knowledge and accurate diagnosis and should always be performed by a certified practitioner.

Acupuncture for the treatment of pain is a common treatment offered by chartered physiotherapists. As well as reducing pain, acupuncture can actively improve rates of healing and recovery, thereby enhancing treatment outcomes for patients.

At Bode Clinic our senior physiotherapists are trained and certified by the AACP in western acupuncture as a post-graduate study, ensuring our patients receive the highest standard of care and quality assurance.

Acupuncture is one of the many skills used within physiotherapy as an integrated approach to the management of pain and inflammation and as a means of stimulating the bodys own healing chemicals in order to aid recovery and enhance rehabilitation.

Acupuncture within physiotherapy is used against the background of clinical and research evidence. The concept of Traditional Chinese Medicine [TCM] is an ancient system of written scripts as far back as 1000BC, founded on the holistic concept of treatment and an acknowledgement of the bodys ability to return to its balanced state of health, given the correct stimulus to do so.

🏃🏼‍♀️ Not long to go now! 🏃🏽‍♂️

This Sunday, we’ll be running the Manchester 10k to help raise money for Huntington’s Disease Association.

Now, we’re not runners by any means (maybe excluding Stephen), but how hard can it be?

You might have seen us sharing Emma’s story recently, and she’s even got a mention from @eamonnholmes ! 😱

We’re so close to reaching our Bode goal, and help Emma reach hers, which will support the amazing work being done at Huntington’s Disease Association🤞🏻

They work to improve care and support services available to people living with Huntington’s Disease as well as support for their families.

We’d be SO grateful if you could make a donation, big or small, as we get ready for the big run on Sunday. Every little helps!! 🏃🏼‍♀️

Click the link in our bio to donate! 🤞🏻

Slipped disc, herniated disc, bulging disc, protruding, prolapsed ...so many names, but what does it mean?
First of all, a disc doesn’t “slip” of such, the disc sits very firmly in its place, it’s not “wobbly” and it can handle very heavy loading💪🏼 (Stemper et al,2010📚)
——
Spinal discs separate the vertebrae in your spine and cushion your back and neck. They have a tough outer layer and are a bit like a gel inside.
——
But certain movements, for example the combination of bending and twisting can cause cause the loss of the normal structure and shape of the disc, and if it compressed a nerve this could be very painful.
BUT: Sometimes the pain is down to ligament or muscle injury and the disc is perfectly fine.
⚠️Correct diagnosis is the key (again🤓)
——
Recovery can take a while – usually between one and three months; treatments include physiotherapy and pain relief.
The spine is complex, and a healthy spine is so important so do NOT ignore your symptoms, deal with it.
———
📣NEWS ALERT!!!
From end of May 2019 we will have a chiropractor joining our team, which means we will have a even bigger team of professionals working together to give the best possible outcome for our patients, especially the ones suffering from back and neck pain.
Chiropractic care and physiotherapy complement each other very well, and we couldn’t be more happy to have the opportunity to develop our team and make these additions.
More info will come soon, but if you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch ☎️📩📝
