Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a type of treatment where small needles are inserted into the skin, at specific key points across the body. The treatment requires specialist knowledge and accurate diagnosis and should always be performed by a certified practitioner.
Acupuncture for the treatment of pain is a common treatment offered by chartered physiotherapists. As well as reducing pain, acupuncture can actively improve rates of healing and recovery, thereby enhancing treatment outcomes for patients.
At Bode Clinic our senior physiotherapists are trained and certified by the AACP in western acupuncture as a post-graduate study, ensuring our patients receive the highest standard of care and quality assurance.

Acupuncture is one of the many skills used within physiotherapy as an integrated approach to the management of pain and inflammation and as a means of stimulating the body’s own healing chemicals in order to aid recovery and enhance rehabilitation.
Acupuncture within physiotherapy is used against the background of clinical and research evidence. The concept of Traditional Chinese Medicine [TCM] is an ancient system of written scripts as far back as 1000BC, founded on the holistic concept of treatment and an acknowledgement of the body’s ability to return to its balanced state of health, given the correct stimulus to do so.
